One of the best things to learn how to make when you are learning to knit is the humble dishcloth. No one starts out able to make anything perfectly and before you truly get the hang of knitting, larger projects can seem endless. Smaller projects, like a dishcloth, are much quicker giving you a sense of accomplishment when done; encouraging future projects.

And as a seasoned knitter, dishcloths and coasters are great to use up those extra bits of yarn you don't know what to do with. And they don't need to be coasters. If you have a stash of smaller lengths of yarn, you can use the coaster versions and sew the squares together to make afghans. Now that would be a project.

Speaking of the small versions, they can be used as either face scrubbies or as coasters. I'm particularly fond of the Diamonds Dishcloth made smaller as a coaster. The texture of it makes it a little more elegant to be on a coffee or side table."
